Norva works in environmental philosophy, meta-ethics (value, rationality, motivation), David Hume, among other areas. She has published monographs, book chapters, journal articles, and encyclopaedia entries - with Routledge, Macmillan, Springer, Oxford University Press, and more. Some of her publications are: Environmental Ethics in the Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy ; Understanding environmental philosophy ; Natural and artifactual ; Is Hume Inconsistent ; Two Conceptions of Dignity. She publishes sometimes in the name "Y. S. Lo".
Norva has a PhD (with distinction) in Philosophy from the University of Western Australia. She is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. She has worked at La Trobe University - where she has been postdoctoral fellow, senior lecturer, and chairperson of university human research ethics committees in areas of humanities, social sciences, education, law and business. She has also worked at the University of Hong Kong, and the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
Norva has education and training also in classical music and art from Ronald Farren-Price and Yim Maukun, respectively. She is an equity advocate for alternative sized keyboards. She enjoys freedom, beauty, theorising, interspecies friendships, and Chopin.
